Admission Requirements                                 

Admission Procedures

The Office of Admissions processes the application and the admission for all students. Each applicant is required to:

1. submit a complete application form along with a nonrefundable fee of $30.00 by the deadline specified on

the application form; (Forms may be requested from the Office of Admissions. For late applications, an additional

$10.00 fee is charged.)

2. submit two sealed recommendations;

3. submit an official transcript of grades; and

4. sit the relevant ATLIB English and Mathematics Examinations.

General Requirements

The Corozal Junior College seeks to admit students who have demonstrated academic achievement and promise at

high school level. Therefore, the high school transcripts and letters of recommendation are essential in the selection of

applicants as well as personal attributes such as maturity, motivation and commitment.

To be eligible for admission, each applicant must have:

1. graduated from a recognized four-year high school, or a high school equivalency program; and

2. obtained at least a passing grade in Mathematics and English Language in the fourth year of high school or

high school equivalency program.

Program Requirements

In addition to the general requirements, each program has the following specific entry requirements:

ARTS AND/OR SCIENCE:

Each applicant must have:

a. studied preferably CXC General Proficiency in English Language and Mathematics; and

b. studied CXC General Proficiency in the subject in which he\she chooses to major.

BUSINESS STUDIES :

Each applicant must have:

a. studied preferably CXC General Proficiency in English Language and Mathematics; and

b. studied CXC General Proficiency in Accounting if Business with Accounting is chosen.

COMPUTER SCIENCE:

Each applicant must have:

a. studied preferably CXC General Proficiency in English Language;

b. studied CXC General Proficiency in Mathematics;

c. studied CXC General Proficiency in Physics if Computer Science with Physics is chosen; and

d. studied CXC General or Technical Proficiency in Information Technology.

GENERAL STUDIES:

Each applicant must have:

a. studied preferably CXC General Proficiency in English Language and Mathematics;

b. studied CXC General Proficiency in the subject in which he\she chooses to major; and

c. studied at least two years of Spanish.

PRIMARY TEACHER EDUCATION:

Each applicant must have studied preferably CXC General Proficiency in English Language and

Mathematics.

This program is available for both pre-service and in-service teachers.

Other Requirements

First year students are required to do a Study Skills course and based on their scores in the ATLIB Examinations may

also need to do developmental courses in English and/or Mathematics.
