Sebastian Kilowa Memorial University is non government university which has clear vision and mission to offer in education sector.The vision of the university is to be a leading African institution of higher learning that fully recognises and actively professes the human value and dignity of all society members, including people with disabilities, and whereby everyone is able to learn and live in harmony with God, fellow human beings and all creation.While the mission of the university is to rovide High Quality University Level Education that produces graduates who can integrate the Needs, Rights and Potentials of People with different abilities into a holistic perspective of life and creation in various fields of expertise, building upon traditional knowledge simultaneously as we open creative ways for new and constructive innovations. *** We mention “people with disabilities” in our Vision and Mission statement because:

  • Most National, Regional and District plans do not include people with disabilities;
  • Anyone can acquire disability, temporarily or permanently, during the course of life;
  • In our view, one criterion which a nation?s civilisation ought to be measured by, is how it treats citizens who have disabilities;
  • For almost 125 years, the NED has been putting emphasis on supporting people who are in the lowest stratum of the social pyramid, e.g., people affected by disabilities, leprosy, loss of parents, HIV/AIDS, mental health problems and other vulnerable groups.

Programs Offered

(a) Faculty of Education Bachelor of Education Special Needs with Science Teaching Subjects:

The candidate must have at least two Principal Level passes in the following appropriate subjects in the A.C.S.E.E. or equivalent: Chemistry, Physics, Biology/Botany/Zoology, Mathematics, Geography or Agriculture, one of which must be the chosen Science Teaching Subject. The sum of the points from the two principal level passes should not be less than 2.0 points.

(b) Faculty of Science

i) Bachelor of Science in Eco-tourism and Nature Conservation:

  • To be eligible for consideration for admission, the candidate must have at least two Principal Level passes in the following appropriate subjects in the A.C.S.E.E. or equivalent: Chemistry, Physics, Biology/Botany/Zoology, Mathematics, Geography, Agriculture. The sum of the points from the two principal level passes should not be less than 2.0 points.

ii) Bachelor of Science in Mental Health and Rehabilitation:

  • The candidate must be a holder of either Diploma in Clinical Medicine (Clinical Officer) or Advanced Diploma in Clinical Medicine (Assistant Medical Officer) and have a working experience of two years or more.

(c) Faculty of Law

For applicants to the Bachelor of Laws degree, the candidate must have obtained a credit in English at C.S.E.E. or a Principal Pass in English at A.C.S.E.E.

Category B: Equivalent Qualifications

  1. Possession of Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (C.S.E.E) or East African Secondary Education (Ordinary Level) or Equivalent with at least three Credit Passes in appropriate subjects AND
  2. Fulfilling the following faculty wise requirements:

(a) Faculty of Education

Diploma from a recognised/accredited institution with a G.P.A of 2.7 or above or an average of C or above in one of the following:

  • Education
  • Special Needs Education
  • Psychology
  • Theology

(b) Faculty of Law

  • The applicant must have at least a pass in English at C.S.E.E. or a subsidiary grade at A.C.S.E.E. AND
  • Diploma in Law from a recognised/accredited institution with a G.P.A of 2.7 or above OR an average of C or above.

(c) Faculty of Science
